Bauer Appointed Interim City Manager 3/26/2012

(Fayetteville, N.C.) – The Fayetteville City Council has appointed Kristoff T. Bauer interim city manager as of April 1, 2012. Bauer has served as one of Fayetteville’s assistant city managers since August 2009.

As a Fayetteville assistant city manager, Bauer has overseen six departments, including Information Technology, Parks & Recreation, the Fayetteville Regional Airport, Community Development, Risk Management and Development Services, the latter of which worked with the City Council on adopting the City’s Development Code last summer. The Development Code replaced Chapters 25-Subdivisions and 30-Zoning in the City Code, governing the use and development of land in Fayetteville.

With more than 16 years of municipal government experience, Bauer has worked as a city manager and assistant city manager in other cities such as Jacksonville, N.C. and Billings, Mont.

Bauer has achieved credentialed manager status with the International City/County Management Association (ICMA). The ICMA recognizes qualified individuals as professional local government managers and recognizes a combination of education and experience.

Bauer entered the field of government following a career as an attorney in the state of Washington, where he helped guide the new city of Shoreline from incorporation to a full-service city with a $65.5 million budget and more than 100 employees. Subsequent positions gave him oversight of large-scale departments and budgets.

Bauer holds two Bachelor’s degrees, a Master’s in Business Administration and a Juris Doctorate in Law, all from the University of Washington.
