|Fire Battalion Chief Competes on National BBQ Show||6/12/2012|
(Fayetteville, N.C.) – A Fayetteville Fire/Emergency Department battalion chief will soak up some national spotlight for his barbecuing abilities on a television show Sunday night at 9 p.m. Robert Brinson, who works for the Fayetteville Fire/Emergency Department, will appear, along with his brother Corey, on the TV reality show BBQ Pitmasters: Season 3 on the Destination America channel (formerly Planet Green) in an episode titled “All Hammed Up.”
Brinson and his brother, who have owned Fatback’s BBQ and Rib Shack for seven years, sent in an audition tape and were selected to appear on the show. Sunday night’s episode was filmed in Dothan, Ala., where the brothers competed with 14 other teams from around the country for the title of “BBQ Pitmaster Alabama.” The winner of the competition goes to the finals in Lexington, N.C.
While Brinson could not reveal the outcome of the event, he did say that he and his brother, who have been on the cooking competition circuit for three years, didn’t know what they were cooking until they made it to Dothan and opened up a freezer that was designated for them. Brinson is hopeful that Fayetteville citizens will tune into Sunday night’s show.
“It will be good for Fayetteville residents to watch two local guys compete on the national stage as we try to get a spot in the finale,” Brinson said.
Destination America is channel 256 on Time Warner Cable.
