Airport Announces More Flights to Washington, D.C. 10/5/2012

(Fayetteville, N.C.) – For the second time in calendar year 2012, Fayetteville Regional Airport is adding service to Washington, D.C. Beginning Feb. 14, 2013, United Airlines will provide three round trip flights from Washington Dulles International Airport to Fayetteville. United Express regional carrier CommutAir will serve the Fayetteville market with 37 passenger Q200 airplanes and flight time is expected to be about an hour and 20 minutes. Earlier this year, a direct flight was added from Fayetteville to Reagan National Airport in D.C.

United’s  new flights will also offer Fayetteville customers access to United’s worldwide network, including efficient connections to Honolulu, Frankfurt, Munich, Dubai, Doha, and more.

United’s tentative schedule of departures is as follows:

Leave Fayetteville

10:05 a.m., arrive at 11:25 a.m. at Dulles

2:30 p.m., arrive at 3:50 p.m. at Dulles

7:15 p.m., arrive at 8:35 p.m. at Dulles

Return to Fayetteville

Leave Dulles at 8:15 a.m., arrive in Fayetteville at 9:35 a.m.

Leave Dulles at 12:20 p.m., arrive in Fayetteville at 1:40 p.m.

Leave Dulles at 5:20 p.m., arrive in Fayetteville at 6:40 p.m.

Based on a January 2010 air service study for Fayetteville, potential demand is 15,000 to 35,000 passengers per year. The study figures led United to consider flights from Fayetteville.

United’s service will provide Fayetteville Regional Airport with its third connection to a major hub, to also include Charlotte and Atlanta, and its fourth destination. Along with Dulles, Fayetteville Regional Airport will service flights to Reagan National Airport in D.C. and the Charlotte and Atlanta airports.

“We are thrilled to again be adding service to Washington, D.C.,” Airport Director Bradley Whited said. “Flights to Washington are valuable to our military based at Fort Bragg, our veterans and also our business community and general population. I’d like to thank United Airlines for choosing to Fly Fayetteville and wish them great success while serving Fayetteville and the entire southeast region of North Carolina.”
