Council Member District 3
P.O. Box 9579
Fayetteville, NC 28311
Mitch Colvin was elected the District 3 representative to the Fayetteville City Council in November 2013. He is an invested stakeholder, entrepreneur, philanthropist and life-long resident of Fayetteville. He is a graduate of E.E. Smith Senior High School; John Tyler Mortuary College, with an A.A. in Funeral Service; and Fayetteville State University, with a B.A. Degree in Sociology.
In 1995, at the age of 21 years old, Mitch assumed the role of President of a small family funeral business, Colvin Funeral Homes, which was going through a very difficult time. Since then, he has spent the last two decades rebuilding and restoring the good-will of the business. Today, his company's operation has grown tremendously, and is proudly one of the most frequently utilized funeral homes in the area. Colvin believes that the main tenets of hard work and dedication can and must be applied to his role as a City Councilman. Councilman Colvin's top priorities include job creation; economic revitalization of the City's blighted and deprived areas; education and training; and most importantly, the creation of a safe and secure community for all to enjoy.
He is married to Daisha S. Colvin and together they have three beautiful daughters: Porscha, Ashley and Mya. They are members of Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church and they are active in many civic and social organizations. Daisha is a Social Worker for Cumberland County Schools and the co-owner of the Sentiment Store Florist and Gift Shop.
