    Yard Sale Permit Fee?

    Hi!

    Maybe I'm looking for something that is right in front of my face, but does anyone know if there is a cost for obtaining a Yard Sale Permit? I'm planning on having yard sale, but I need a little more info before I set my date and put the ad in the newspaper. TIA!

    Re: Yard Sale Permit Fee?

    The application can be found here: http://www.ci.fayetteville.nc.us/files/18/inspection_forms/entry373.aspx

    On the application itself you will see a phone number to call for more information.

    The permit cost $10 as of this post date: 7/03/2007

    Thanks,

    Hope this eliminates the frustration.  Big Smile

    Like you,  I found myself stumbling over sections of rules and regs. but finally located the information in the following:

    COUNTY ZONING ORDINANCE'S dated June 20, 2005 (w/ammendments through 02-19-08) on page 95.

    D. Yard Sales. A permit is not required; however, a resident and/or family household is limited to no more than four separate yard sales, each of which may consist of a one- or two-day period within any calendar year, within any residential or agricultural district. The hours of operation are limited to daylight hours on the day(s) the sale occurs. The person conducting the yard sale (tenant or property owner) shall be responsible for the prevention of any negative effects on neighboring properties and prevention of impeding the normal flow of traffic on public rights-of-way. Also, the person conducting the sale shall ensure that all property being sold is personal property, as defined in Article II, and that any residual items at the conclusion of the sale are not stored outside the residential dwelling in a permanent or semi-permanent

    Re: Yard Sale Permit Fee?

    The information above is a county ordinance and would apply only if the yard sale is not located within the city limits.

    The City of Fayetteville Code of Ordinances can be located at http://www.municode.com/resources/gateway.asp?pid=10733&sid=33

    The ordinance regarding Yard Sales is Sec. 15-34 and can be located by following the following link.

    http://library3.municode.com:80/default/template.htm?view=browse&doc_action=setdoc&doc_keytype=tocid&doc_
    key=f37ce575c6a020feb3c3e6c5c59698de&infobase=10733

    Sec. 15-34(c)   Permit required.  No yard sale shall be conducted unless and until the individuals desiring to conduct such sale shall obtain a permit there for from the inspection department. Members of more than one residence may join in obtaining a permit for a yard sale to be conducted at the residence of one of them.
