They Did It and So Can You!
The City of Fayetteville Citizens’ Academy graduated its second class on Oct. 28, 2009 and was recognized by Assistant City Manager Doug Hewett. The group met once a week for seven weeks to find out what City departments do and how they do it. Not only were there presentations and take-home handouts, there was plenty of time for questions and dialogue.
One of the goals of the Citizens’ Academy is to help citizens understand what goes on behind the scenes to provide services to residents. The City hopes that informed citizens are able to take information to community groups and share with neighbors. It may even encourage some to be involved in building a better community by becoming members of boards and commissions.
