Mission
It is the Public Information Officer's mission to inform city residents, city employees, and other affected parties what Fayetteville city government is doing and why.

Description
The Public Information Officer is responsible for the production and dissemination of information about city operations and business to both the public at large (external customers) and to city employees (internal customers). The Public Information Officer disseminates information using a variety of public information, advertising, public relations, and marketing tools to include news media releases, public service announcements and advertising campaigns. The Public Information Officer also is responsible for televising City Council meetings.

The Public Information Officer is also responsible for providing elected officials with communication-related items for their use in informing the public about City issues. The Public Information Officer answers directly to the City Manager and is called upon often to conduct research or manage projects assigned by the City Manager.
